Brigid Berlin Max's Kansas City - Employee Manual

BERLIN, Brigid and Max's Kansas City

(Signed by Brigid Berlin)

New York: Max's Kansas City, 1970. Photocopied handbook. 12 pages. 8 1/2 x 11 inches. SIGNED by Warhol superstar Brigid Berlin, and annotated "my copy." A manual for employees at the famous New York nightclub and restaurant, prepared by owner Mickey Ruskin. Covers many common aspects of running the establishment, from personal cleanliness and uniforms to charging for sides like onion rings and mushrooms, but with additional commentary by Ruskin on how to deal MKC's reputation for being the hangout of "artists, musicians, photographers, diversified members of 'underground films,' and many unclassifiable regulars, etc."—nearly all of which are categories applicable to the prolific Berlin. A fascinating piece of ephemera right out of New York night life legend. Light soiling to front and back covers, else near fine in side-stapled wrappers.
